The California Endowment is seeking an Enterprise-Wide Projects and Strategic Partnership Manager to join the Executive Office. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, the hybrid role will report 2 days in one of our 5 office locations (Los Angeles, Oakland, Fresno, Sacramento or San Diego).

Position Summary:

The Enterprise-Wide Projects and Strategic Partnership Manager plays an integral role in advancing The Endowment’s mission by cultivating and managing relationships with key stakeholders, funders, partners, and grantees while leading the planning, execution, and evaluation of complex, enterprise-wide projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. This multifaceted position bridges internal strategy with external collaboration, helping to align resources, shared goals, and initiatives, requiring strong relationship-building skills, strategic thinking, project management and communication.

This position will report to the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). In partnership with the CSO and the Chief Executive Officer, this position will identify partnership, membership, and sponsorship opportunities, steward strategic alliances, and support collaborations that strengthen The Endowment’s impact and visibility across the health equity and funder ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:

Partnership Development and Management:

  • Builds and manages relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including philanthropic, non-profit, corporate, and public-sector partners that are aligned with The Endowment’s priorities.
  • In partnership with the CSO and CEO, identifies, assesses and cultivates new partnership, membership, and sponsorship opportunities that advance The Endowment’s mission and strategic initiatives.
  • Builds visibility of The Endowment with stakeholders and works with partners to grow support and secure wins for long-term health equity work, leveraging the investments and learnings of The Endowment and partners.
  • Serves as the internal lead for managing partnerships, memberships, and sponsorships, ensuring strong communication, alignment, and shared accountability across teams. Ensures feedback loops to build trust and identify trends to communicate resources available by memberships to staff.
  • Develops partnership proposals and collaborative work plans.
  • Represents The Endowment in networks, conferences, and coalitions related to health equity and systems change.


Strategic Alignment & Coordination:

  • Collaborates with staff to align partnership efforts with enterprise-wide strategies and outcomes.
  • Partners with Knowledge Management team to implement processes to ensure two-way learning from partnerships, memberships, and sponsorships.
  • Tracks emerging trends, policy shifts, and partnership models relevant.
  • Contributes to internal strategy discussions, translating partnership insights into actionable recommendations.


Project Management:

  • Leads the planning, design, execution, and closeout of assigned enterprise-wide projects from conception to completion.
  • Develops and implements robust project management procedures and systems, ensuring efficiency and compliance while supporting continuous improvement and learnings across enterprise-wide workflows.
  • Tracks and maintains project progress and milestones, manages budgets and timelines, and prepares high-quality narrative and statistical reports for leadership and the Board.
  • Identifies risks and dependencies; proactively recommends solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Coordinates internal teams, consultants, and partners to ensure alignment and accountability.
  • In addition to enterprise-wide projects, manages a portfolio of projects and initiatives related to strategic partnerships.
  • Develops systems and processes for managing partnerships, memberships, and sponsorships, and their associated budgets.
  • Collaborates with the Knowledge Management team to define success metrics for partnerships and shared initiatives.
  • Gathers feedback from partners to continuously improve how The Endowment engages externally.
  • Monitors and evaluates the performance of partnerships and adapts strategies as needed.


Communications:

  • Works with the Communications team to amplify partnership stories, learnings, and impact through reports, newsletters, and digital content.
  • Prepares briefings, talking points, and presentations for leadership and Board engagement.
  • Ensures consistent, equity-centered messaging in all partnership communications.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of health equity, racial equity, social determinants of health, and systems-change approaches.
  • Excellent relationship building, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven success in working enterprise-wide, collaborating across different departments to achieve a shared outcome.
  • Understanding of philanthropic infrastructure organizations (PIOs), philanthropic serving organizations (PSOs) and funder collaboratives.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment with competing deadlines.
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into actional strategies and compelling narratives.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity in dynamic partnership environments.
  • Strong collaborative skills and cultural competency, with experience engaging diverse populations and stakeholders.
  • Strong project management, strategic thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).


Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum five years of experience in grantmaking related to health or racial equity-related initiatives.
  • A bachelor’s degree in public health, public policy, or related field is equivalent to 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Deep understanding of and commitment to tce principles, ensuring that all engagements with staff, partners, and grantees are rooted in trust, transparency, and shared power. Champions TBP as a guiding principle in organizational processes and decision-making.
  • Experience with collaborative funding relationships or philanthropy infrastructure or serving organizations (PIOs, PSOs) a plus.


Salary Range:

Target Hiring Range: $117,000 - $146,000

Full Hiring Range: $117,000 - $146,000 - $175,000
