Position Overview:
Perform manual and machine operator tasks related to ink management on flexographic press and other related duties as directed by assistant press operator, press operator, Printing Department Manager and Supervisors.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Understands printing job requirements by studying job specifications and reading a factory order.
- Assist operator/assistant with make ready.
- Assist operator/assistant with automatic register controls.
- Responsible for ink change during the copy change.
- Maintain ink viscosity, PH, measure DE, density, color match approved art, and ensure all inks are managed.
- Ensure that ALL ISO 9001:2000 Procedures, Work Instructions, 6-S, and QPOC’s are followed.
- Minimize downtime, troubleshooting stoppages and breakdowns.
- Ensure all necessary supplies are ready prior to running a specific job.
- Operate ink pump and auto viscometer
Job Specifications:
- Ability to make-ready ink stations to job specific ink numbers.
- Ability to safely disassemble and reassemble chamber blades.
- Ability to achieve color to established densitometer/spectrophotometer targets.
- Ability to assist make-ready press within established MR standard allowance.
- Ability to identify and correct printing quality issues.
- Ability to identify printing defects per department QPOC’s.
- Ability to read Dot Gain.
Education / Experience:
High School diploma or GED equivalent is preferred but not required. Manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
Communication Skills / Requirements:
Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with management, peers and other employees. Have active listening skills, attention to detail and follow-through. Must demonstrate tact, professionalism, teamwork, flexibility, an organized approach to work and a positive attitude.
Safety:
All duties to be performed in compliance with company guidelines, and safety policy.
PPE: MUST WEAR Hearing Protection and safety glasses in all areas. Must only use a safety knife with cut proof gloves.
