What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Line Cook - Part Time & Weekends position at The Bus Stop Bar & Bistro?
The Bus Stop Bar & Bistro is a family owned new restaurant in downtown Olympia. We are looking for a motivated, reliable Line Cook or Solo Cook to join our kitchen team. Our main kitchen is a food trailer that is fixed in placed on our covered patio nicknamed the Greyhound Grill. The building is the historic old Greyhound station in downtown Olympia, and the heated covered patio is large and looks out to Silvester Park.
We are a fun and safe atmosphere with lots of events like live music, live comedy, paint & sips, private large parties, karyoke, open mic, etc as well as conventional restaurant customers, with the kitchen being open 11am to 8:30pm or 9pm depending on the day.
What You’ll Do
- Prep ingredients and assist the Chef with daily service
- During times of slower service, will be needed to do Solo Charge: Take total independent responsibility for food preparation, cooking to order, and running the entire kitchen during their shift.
- Execute menu items quickly and consistently. If longer ticket times are unavoidable, communicate to servers to let guests know current food wait estimates.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards
- Work collaboratively in a fast-paced food truck environment
- Assist with opening, closing, and general kitchen duties
- Multitasking: Handle all stations (grill, fry, prep, and plating) simultaneously.
- Opening and Closing: Cleaning equipment, restocking inventory without a separate cleanup crew. Set up next shift for success.
- Schedule Requirements
- Must be available weekends and evenings, some morning pick up shifts
- Part-time hours available at this time
