Job Summary:
This role requires a creative thinker and hands-on gardener who can shape and maintain a consistent Burpee brand voice across e-commerce, email, catalog, social media, packaging, and retail displays. This role blends storytelling with marketing by translating product benefits and gardening advice into persuasive, customer-friendly language that helps gardeners of any skill level discover, understand and succeed with Burpee products.
Location:
300 Park Ave, Warminster PA. 100% Onsite. Monday - Friday 8am-5pm.
Essential Duties:
- Create clear, accurate, and persuasive content across website, catalog, email, social media, and retail channels that helps customers understand and choose our products.
- Develop product descriptions, category pages, and supporting content on Burpee.com that drive conversion and improve the customer experience.
- Support promotional campaigns, product launches, and seasonal selling with timely, relevant messaging.
- Deliver weekly email copy that aligns to revenue goals and seasonal priorities.
- Write and maintain gardening guides, ‘how-to’ content, and educational materials that build customer confidence and success.
- Optimize website content using search keywords, testing, and performance insights to improve engagement and conversion.
- Edit and proof content across channels to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
- Maintain a consistent Burpee voice across all content and touchpoints.
- Document and update writing standards and guidelines as needed.
- Partner with marketing, product, and retail teams to deliver against project briefs.
- Work with horticulturists and customer service to ensure content is accurate, practical, and grounded in real customer needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 years of professional copywriting experience, preferably in lifestyle or enthusiast categories (gardening, home, food).
- Strong writing ability grounded in hands-on gardening experience, with the judgment to write clearly and accurately for gardeners of all levels.
- Portfolio demonstrating work across e-commerce, retail, or consumer brands.
- Ability to work from project briefs and develop concepts independently.
- Ability to balance brand voice with commercial goals and drive customer action.
- Strong editing and proofreading skills with close attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of SEO and how to apply it to content.
