The Burkard School, an independent K-8 school supporting neurodivergent learners, is seeking a 4th Grade Long-Term Substitute Teacher to begin immediately and teach through the end of the school year.
This is a great opportunity for an educator who enjoys small classes, a supportive team, and mission-driven work helping students with diverse learning profiles succeed.
Strong candidates may be considered for a full-time teaching role for the 2026–2027 school year.
What You'll Do
Teach 4th grade core subjects: English-Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies using provided curriculum
Maintain a structured, supportive classroom environment
Support students with executive functioning and learning differences
Monitor student progress and collaborate with school staff
Help ensure a smooth and positive learning experience for students
Work closely with a co-teacher (behavior specialist) to support student needs
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
Teaching credential preferred but not required
Experience teaching elementary students (4th grade preferred)
Strong classroom management skills
Interest in working with neurodivergent learners
Schedule & Pay
Full-time, Monday–Friday
2 hours of prep time per day
Immediate start through June 4, 2026
Competitive daily compensation: $350/day
