Pay Rates
- Level 1 / Helper: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour
- 2nd Shift Differential: $1.00/hour
- Level 2 / Intermediate Experience: $25.00 – $28.00 per hour
- 2nd Shift Differential: $1.00/hour
- Level 3 / Proven Experience: $28.00 – $35.00 per hour
- 2nd Shift Differential: $1.00/hour

Position Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and fabricating components for heavy mechanical equipment used in sawmill operations. This role supports continuous production by ensuring machinery operates safely and efficiently. Candidates should have hands-on mechanical aptitude, experience with hydraulics, mechanical systems, Troubleshooting and the ability to work in a demanding industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on sawmill equipment and heavy mechanical machinery
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to diagnose and repair equipment failures
- Fabricate, weld, cut, and modify parts or structures as needed
- Repair conveyors, saws, motors, gearboxes, bearings, and hydraulic components
- Respond to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime
- Follow work orders, blueprints, schematics, and verbal instructions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Support mill operations during high production periods and shutdowns
- Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements
Requirements
- Experience with mechanical maintenance, fabrication, hydraulics, and heavy machinery (level based on experience)
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Must wear steel-toe shoes, hard hat, safety vest, and safety glasses at all times on-site (MANDATORY)
- Ability to stand for long periods, twist and bend frequently, walk for extended periods, and perform continuous hand use
- Ability to lift 45–55 lbs regularly without restrictions
- Ability to work in hot and cold, indoor and outdoor environments, including inclement weather
- Strong adherence to safety, time, and attendance policies (company expectations are high)
- Willingness to work overtime during peak/high season
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior sawmill or lumber industry experience
- Welding and fabrication certifications
- Experience with hydraulic systems and preventive maintenance programs
- Bilingual is a plus, but not required
A 90-day probationary period with a possible increase based on performance and attendance. After this period, the employee will have the option to transfer directly to the company and may be eligible for an additional increase.
