Qualifications and Details about the Position
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
-Proven qualifications and experience in previous level
-Understands how to use of tables of equivalents, and unit conversion tables
-Understands the laws of thermal expansion
-Knows how to perform right angle trigonometry, and calculate take-outs using trigonometry
-Advanced understanding of blueprints
-Rigging and signaling competency
-Is able to identify: all safety precautions for towers and exchangers, the types of trays to be installed and their applications, the materials, components, and layout of a tray
-Is able to perform typical maintenance procedures on a tower, and properly remove and install an exchanger
-Is able to identify all of the safety precautions associated with boiler tube systems, and the materials used in the various boiler systems
-Is able to remove tubing and attachments, and prepare and install: economizers, super heaters, reboilers, generator banks, wall panels and condensers/exchangers/coolers
-Is able calculate and fabricate: simple piping offsets, three-line 45 degree equal-spread offsets, three-line 45 degree unequal-spread offsets
-Is able to fabricate tank heating coils
-Knowledgeable on stress-relief procedures, and the various types of misalignment
-Knowledgeable on weld preparations, welding inspection, non-destructive testing methods, and hydrostatic testing
-Is able to: plan daily work activities, coordinate work activities with other crafts, ensure safe working conditions, determine material needs, secure equipment and materials, sequence operations specific to the task, and field-check the installation
Education and Certification
Graduation from high school or possession of a GED
Training Requirements
The successful completion of at least a ( 3 ) years of verifiable formal training.
Experience
At least (3) years of experience
Lifting Requirements
Heavy work - Lifting or moving up to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects
