Essential Duties and Responsibilities include following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Lead the stewarding crew during high-volume restaurant operation, banquets, weddings, and corporate events.
- Coordinate the setup, organization, and breakdown of banquet service ware, including china, glass, silver, and chafing dishes.
- Run daily pre-shift meetings to review Banquet Event Orders, staffing assignments, and special client needs.
- Transport items on and off property to support all kitchen operations. This may include driving a Broadmoor company golf cart or other Broadmoor vehicle.
- Assist culinary and banquet teams with urgent requests, plate-ups, or back-aisle staging when required.
- Ensure water temperatures, dish machine cycles, and chemical/detergent dispensers meet strict health department and Broadmoor standards.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, Colorado health codes, fire safety, and hazardous materials / MSDS guidelines.
- Monitor waste disposal, loading dock cleanliness, and general back-of-house sanitation.
- Track daily and weekly inventory counts for glassware, flatware, and hollowware to minimize loss, breakage, and shrinkage.
- Requisition cleaning chemicals, supplies, and operating equipment while monitoring usage to control departmental costs.
- Report broken or malfunctioning kitchen and dish-room equipment to the steward’s management, engineering, and maintenance department promptly.
- Assist management with writing shift schedules, monitoring attendance, and managing break times.
- Train new stewards on proper handling, sanitation, and luxury service standards.
- Provide constructive feedback and contribute to staff performance evaluations.
- Ensure complete compliance with The Broadmoor guidelines, operational procedures, safety policies, and institutional standards for excellence (Forbes Travel Guide and AAA Five-Diamond).
- Maintain a willingness to learn about The Broadmoor’s history, estate grounds, wilderness properties, culinary offerings, and retail outlets.
- Execute additional duties and responsibilities as required.
What We Are Looking For
- Minimum of a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent.
- Previous 1 to 2 years of experience in stewarding or food & beverage supervisory is highly preferred; however, an equivalent combination of relevant education and professional background will be considered.
- Deep understanding of commercial sanitation equipment, industrial dish machines, and chemical safety.
- A valid driver’s license is required, as this role may involve transporting equipment across the Resort. Please note that all employees operating Broadmoor vehicles must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office tools for documentation and email communication.
- A highly motivated team player who connects easily with colleagues and drives results through positive energy and seamless collaboration.
- Excellent communication skills, negotiation, conflict resolution and ability to work in fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift, pull, or push up to 50 lbs. with assistance and proper safety practices.
- Flexible schedule, including early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays, as required by the calendar of events.
