Job Overview:
Join our team as a Substance Abuse Counselor, where you will provide comprehensive counseling services to individuals struggling with substance abuse. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need.

Duties:
- Screen patients to determine appropriateness for outpatient Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) based on ASAM, State of Michigan, SAMHSA criteria.
- Develop bio-psychosocial assessments and treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique condition.
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions according to personalized treatment plans and funding requirements.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all counseling sessions.
- Collaborate with patients to establish personalized treatment goals and plans for recovery.
- Facilitate referrals and ensure follow-up as necessary.
- Enter relevant information into the computer system accurately.
- Adhere to State and Federal laws and regulations governing substance abuse counseling.
- Strong communication skills are essential for effective patient interaction.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills are crucial for success in this role.

Experience:
- Certification from the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) as a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) or Certified Alcohol and Addiction Counselor (CADC) is required.
- Proficiency in crisis management, research, behavioral health, HIPAA compliance, patient assessment, medical terminology, individual and group counseling, motivational interviewing, and applied behavior analysis is preferred.
