Licenses and Credentials
1. Skilled in animal studies such as such as breeding, record keeping, tail vein injection, xenotransplants, drug treatments
2. Extensive cell culture techniques, including isolation of primary cell cultures from animal and human tissues.
3. Independently performs routine and non-routine molecular and biological experiments. Experimental techniques may include: RNA, protein extractions; gel electrophoresis; blotting and hybridization techniques; cell fixation and basic immunohistochemistry; and cell transfection/infection.
4. Records, organizes, and analyzes data derived from experiments. Presents data to fellow lab members, and principal investigator in a regular and timely fashion. Assists in preparing presentations and written articles for publication.
5. Process data derived from experiments at lab meetings.
6. Directly supervises and trains the incoming Research Assistants and students, coordinates lab orientation and techniques with new fellows when needed.
7. In collaboration with PI, develops and implements new research protocols including design data collection systems, and institutional review board approval. In collaboration with PI, prepares and may present certain portions of presentations, in addition to preparing articles for publication.
8. Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
9. Ability to coordinate efforts with other scientists, technicians, students.
10. Must have sound interpersonal skills and the ability to supervise new lab members.
11. Excellent organizational and observation skills; detail-oriented. Must possess strong analytical skills and conceptual thinking.
12. Patience and a spirit of cooperation are necessary.
13. The ability to constructively interact with members of a research team to pursue scientific goals is a necessity.
14. Must possess the ability to work independently and display initiative to introduce innovations to research study.
15. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
16. Ability to prioritize tasks and set deadlines.
17. Ability to identify problems and develop solutions.
