Job Summary
Essential Functions:
- Processing, Embeds and sections tissue for slides.
- Embeds control tissue and cuts control slides to maintain an adequate control library.
- Performs preventative maintenance and quality control procedures, including oiling and cleaning microtomes, cleaning processors, and changing staining solutions.
- Ensures appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to maintain employee safety at all times.
- Maintains case identification and ensures appropriate tracking throughout the entire process to ensure patient safety.
- Observes hospital and laboratory policies and safety practices and maintains a safe, clean, and prepared work area.

High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Related Field of Study preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must possess fundamental knowledge of basic histotechnique to include fixation, decalcification, processing, embedding, and routine staining.
- Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills.
