The Bridgewater Club Fitness Manager has four primary roles:
- Provide Exceptional Member and Guest Experiences
- Customer Service
- Greet our members and guests as they enter and wish them well as they leave.
- Friendly, helpful, reliable and takes initiative.
- Assists members by answering questions, scheduling appointments, answering the phone, troubleshooting as issues arise, and much more.
- Knowledge of all services, classes, schedules, hours of operation, fitness and club events, who oversees each department and more.
- The ability to enforce Bridgewater fitness center's rules and etiquette. Part of customer service entails professional confrontation of members, youth, and/or guests who are disruptive or not abiding by the fitness center rules. If you are not comfortable addressing issues or if you cannot address issues in a calm and professional manner, this job is not for you.
- Leadership
- Oversee, support and provide leadership to Fitness Desk & Childcare staff, as well as lifeguards.
- You will implement and oversee policies and procedures to optimize the fitness desk and childcare operations.
- You will work alongside the fitness desk and childcare staff, leading by example.
- Train new staff when needed.
- You will elevate staff culture and enhance member experience.
- Professionalism, integrity, tenacity, humor, and a genuine appreciation for health, fitness, and children are vital to this role.
- You must be able to work well within a group, as well as independently.
- Cleanliness and Organization of the Fitness Facility
- As the Fitness Manager, you will oversee the cleanliness of the the fitness center, lobby and locker rooms throughout each shift and every night at closing.
- This will include wiping down fitness equipment, cleaning and organizing locker rooms, keeping fitness center organized and picked up, vacuuming, mopping, doing laundry, stocking supplies, and many other tasks multiple times each day.
- Attention to detail is a must.
- Checklists are provided and must be completed on a daily basis.
- The cleaning is labor intensive and repetitive. If you do not like to clean, this job is not for you.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains a minimum of 40 scheduled hours. Hours will vary. In-season hours (May-August), may increase based on need.
- Works afternoons and evenings, as well some weekend shifts and opening shifts as needed.
- Works with the Fitness Operations Director on establishing and maintaining standard operating procedures that aid in the successful and well run fitness center and childcare room.
- Practices effective and timely communication with all desk and childcare staff, in addition to all members of the management team.
- Maintains accurate upkeep of all information needed at fitness desk, including; binders, electronic folders, files, templates, and POS information.
- Create monthly staff schedule for all fitness desk and childcare staff.
- Assist Fitness Operations Director with ordering merchandise, entering it into inventory and end of month inventory.
- Customer service lead for addressing member feedback and suggestions.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Effective verbal and written communicator
- Possesses strong decision-making and conflict resolution skills
- Associates degree or higher
- 3-years managerial experience required
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred)
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office; including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
