Hey there, food enthusiasts! The Bridge Behavioral Health in downtown Lincoln, Nebraska, is on the lookout for a part-time cook who’s ready to whip up some delicious meals and make a difference in our clients’ lives. We’re a nationally accredited treatment center, helping people overcome addiction and tackle mental health challenges. This is a grant-based role, so your culinary magic will be part of something truly special!
What You’ll Do: As our culinary mastermind, you’ll be preparing meals for clients, keeping our kitchen stocked, and making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. Here's a taste of your daily duties:
- Create a welcoming and safe environment for clients through your food.
- Collaborate with the Culinary Manager to deliver top-notch meals for our clients.
- Serve up meals for our treatment programs and community events.
- Keep track of inventory, order supplies, and make sure the kitchen is always well-equipped.
- Maintain a spotless kitchen, always meeting health department standards.
- Document for quality improvement measures and USDA food/nutrition reports.
- Build strong rapport with clients and staff while keeping it professional.
Supervisory Fun Stuff: While you won’t be supervising other employees, you'll get to guide clients and possible volunteers who assist as kitchen helpers. You'll be the chef and mentor all in one!
What You Bring to the Table:
- 2 years of experience in a full-service food establishment or completion of a food service/hospitality program.
- Required food handler’s permits in hand.
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
Skills We’re Hungry For:
- Basic knowledge of meal prep, with a side of creativity.
- Experience cleaning and maintaining commercial kitchen appliances.
- An open heart and mind to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
