Purpose

The Assistant Executive Director (AED) assists with the management of the day-to-day operations of the building Assists in oversight of property management, sales metrics, personnel administration, and provision of resident services. The AED ensures delivery of quality assisted living services focused on maximizing residents individual capabilities, implements and monitors effective Assisted Living systems; ensures clinical/health services are in compliance with community standards and state regulations, serve as a clinical resource for community staff, in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Century Park Standards. The AED has a working knowledge of community budget and is actively involved in growing topline revenue and community occupancy. May act as the ED for a specified period of time. The Assistant Executive Director reports to the Executive Director.

Working Conditions

  • Works in office and throughout community
  • Subject to frequent interruptions
  • Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily as necessary
  • Subject to falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc. throughout the working day
  • Subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents and families
  • Possible exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses

Education and Experience

  • Must be 21 years of age to oversee assisted living (administrator license requirement)
  • Must have Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
  • Three (3) or more years of successful operational experience in senior housing or hospitality preferred
  • Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience in senior services preferred
  • Must be knowledgeable of federal and state industry regulations

  • Must demonstrate effective people skills with staff, residents, families, vendors, and community
  • Must be able to read and interpret financial records and reports
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Must be knowledgeable of administration practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing
    the senior services industry.
  • Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the administration department
  • Must perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: daily leadership responsibilities, supervisory
  • responsibilities, financial responsibilities, regulatory compliance, resident rights, and safety and sanitation
  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Must understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
  • Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Century Parks’ Code of Ethics and completes all required compliance training

Primary Job Responsibilities

Below is a description of basic job duties though other related duties may become necessary as directed by supervisor
Leads and supports management team to achieve all operational goals, summarized as follows:

Administrative, Systems and Planning

  • Plans, develops, organizes, implements and evaluates resident care goals (service planning, clinical needs, follow-up resolution) in collaboration with Executive Director and Resident Care Director/Licensed Nurse
  • Manages labor and expenses (supplies, etc.) according to budget, utilizing standard Company tools, communicates resource needs to Executive Director
  • Maintains a working knowledge of state regulations, policies, and procedures for infection control compliance, including community’s compliance with TB screening as required by State regulations and/or Century Park policy
  • Determines appropriate staffing levels to meet resident needs 24/7 and ensures schedule is published timely
  • Performs departmental QMPI audits and creates and manages Plan of Correction for deficiencies.
  • Is an active participate in the coordination, implementation, and strategic growth of community occupancy as outlined within Quarterly Marketing Plan
  • Spends time outside of community identifying and cultivating relationships with referral sources
  • Actively participates in managing lead database following up with leads, advancing relationships, and effectively closing the sale with prospects and families

Resident Care Focus

  • Assess new move-ins and consult with Executive Director and Resident Care Director to determine if Community can meet health care needs of prospective move-in, and determine delegation and/or nursing service needs
  • Participate in initial and ongoing service planning for residents
  • Ensures that the medication system is safe and meets State and Company standards
  • Meets with residents regularly and participates in family conferences
  • Makes daily rounds to review performance of resident care staff
  • Monitors service records for all residents
  • Ensures compliance with medical and contact information for all new residents
  • Ensures timely communication with physicians and other healthcare professionals
  • Ensures investigation and resolution of resident /family concerns and complaints/grievances
  • Provides hands-on care as staffing needs require (and licensure allows)
  • Plan and coordinate health services
  • Work collaboratively with physicians to implement appropriate healthcare programs
  • Establish and enforce policies and procedures
  • Take an active role in community relations, marketing and admissions
  • Creating and implementing policies and procedures to better the operation and quality of care

Supervisory Requirements

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, trains, evaluates, coaches, counsels and effectively leads resident care team
  • Supervision of the Resident Care Director under the guidance and support of Campus Director
  • Serves as an effective role model, demonstrating Century Park core values, approachable management style
  • Conducts timely performance evaluations or disciplinary actions for RCD and department associates

Talent/Staffing

  • Interviews, hires, trains, evaluates, supervises, supports, counsels and develops management team.
  • Ensures managers interview, hire, train, evaluate, supervise, support, counsel and develop staff appropriately.
  • Actively participates in and encourages staff retention programs, including timely evaluations and GEM program

Essential Functions

  • Must be able to plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, benchmark, and direct staff to ensure high quality resident care and services are delivered
  • Must ensure community is compliant with all Federal, State, local, requirements
  • Must serve as effective representative for Century Park in the surrounding community
  • Must ensure census goals are met
  • Must prepare and operate within annual budget
  • Must effectively supervise department directors
  • Must exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents
  • Must demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
  • Must be able to concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
  • Must be able to communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Must be able to lift weight as deemed appropriate for the position

Salary : $65,000 - $73,000
