Director of Operations & Strategic Initiatives

The Brick Road Project
Alpharetta, GA Full Time
POSTED ON 6/23/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 12/18/2026

About the Role

The Brick Road Project is a career exploration non-profit designed to help 8th–12th graders discover and explore future career paths. We are looking for a sharp, organized Director of Operations & Strategic Initiatives to join our leadership team.

You will help build the organizational engine from the ground up and have a direct hand in shaping how our program evolves. This is a blank-canvas opportunity perfect for a resourceful, solution-oriented thinker who thrives navigating ambiguity, and is passionate about youth development.

Key Responsibilities

Program Setup & Execution

  • Help coordinate the launch and schedule of our core programs:  the Student Advisory Board, the Brickster Program and student participation in the job shadow/internship tracks.
  • Brainstorm and co-design creative student events (like workshops, small group discussions, and virtual/in-person gatherings) that match current job trends.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to shape accessible, impactful educational modules that inspire under-resourced youth.

Operational Strategy & Execution

  • Define and simplify how our teams execute day-to-day
  • Ensure remote, volunteer teams are aligned on shared goals and project timelines.

Managing Digital Tools

  • Help organize and maintain the team’s digital workspaces for project tracking, task management, and file sharing.
  • Research opportunities to scale the program's workflows as student enrollment grows.

What This Role is NOT

  • You will not be cold-calling local businesses, chasing corporate sponsorships, or pitching community partners. (Our Business Development Director handles the external door-opening).
  • You will not be managing social media accounts, writing marketing newsletters, or designing promotional graphics. (Our Communications Director owns the brand voice).
  • You will not be acting as a full-time student counselor or a data-entry clerk. You are the structural architect setting up the systems, and executing programs, not a one-person administrative staff.

This Role is Ideal For Someone Who:

  • Enjoys translating big visions into real-world execution.
  • Is comfortable moving projects forward without a perfect playbook, letting programs evolve over time
  • Is detail-oriented, proactive and a natural multi-tasker

What You’ll Gain

  • The unique opportunity to help build a mission-driven non-profit from the ground up.
  • A measurable, positive impact on the career trajectories of underrepresented youth across the community.
  • Great networking exposure to community leaders, school districts and workforce partners.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 3 years of experience in program/project management, business operations, or organizational leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills, including managing multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable designing basic processes, organizing digital spaces and working independently
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and the empowerment of young people in their educational and career journeys.

Preferred:

  • A background in start-ups, non-profit management, youth development, education, or a mission-driven organization.
  • Familiarity with high school education systems, career readiness, or youth development programs.
  • Co-location in the Atlanta, GA metropolitan area.

Expectations

To make this a rewarding partnership, make sure you align on these expectations before applying:

  • This is a volunteer leadership role. There is no monetary compensation or health benefits.
  • The position requires a reliable commitment of about 10 hours per week.
  • You must be prepared to start within 14 days.
  • This role is fully remote with flexible scheduling around program timelines.
  • Attendance in executive leadership meetings is required.

About the Brick Road Project

Our children need exposure, deserve opportunity, and thrive with encouragement - and this is what we strive to deliver.

The Brick Road Project is a mission-driven organization dedicated to helping young people discover and pursue meaningful career paths that align with their passions and talents. The organization connects youth with resources, opportunities, inspiration, and real-world exposure to professionals who can spark interest in long-term careers rather than short-term jobs. For youth who already have a clear passion or natural talent, The Brick Road Project offers encouragement and support to help them “Follow their brick road”. For those still exploring, the organization provides guidance and opportunities to “Find their brick road”.  Through ongoing programs and engagements, The Brick Road Project aims to provide practical, sustained support at every stage of a young person’s journey.
