Education Intern

Interns in the Education Department work collaboratively to design and implement content that challenges the status quo of civics education, while also backing that content with thorough, quantitative and qualitative research. Interns will have the option of joining one of five teams: Content, Communications, Strategy (housed within our Development & Advocacy sub-department), Research, or Data Analytics (housed within our Research & Analytics sub-department).

Job Details and Requirements

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to disseminate complex policy topics
• Ability to collaborate in a team environment
• Ability to design classroom materials communicating policy and cultivating discourse skills
• Graphic design and/or presentation making experience
• An interest in one of the following focus areas:
  
  

Content works on developing our nonpartisan civics education curriculum and related content, taking into account feedback from stakeholders. Communications works on promoting our content, making our curriculum more digestible, and developing connections with other civic minded organizations. Strategy works on securing grants and identifying opportunities for growth. Research works on investigating the current state of civics education, highlighting gaps and areas for improvement, and preparing detailed reports. Data Analytics works on using statistical methods to quantitatively evaluate the impact of our discourse-based civics content on student understanding, civic engagement, and topic comprehension.

Policy Analyst Intern

Policy Analyst Interns contribute to a wide range of projects that support the research, publication, outreach, and communications work of the Policy Department. Interns may be assigned to one or more of the following focus areas: editing journal submissions, writing or editing policy briefs, editing Op-Eds for the YIP website, or conducting outreach to academic and public audiences. The work for this position may include long-form editing, external outreach, research, or media polishing, depending on the needs of the department and the intern’s strengths.
