Position Summary

The Intern, The Philanthropic Initiative (TPI) will support both programmatic and administrative projects, including compiling research and data and assisting with grant review. The role also involves coordinating logistics and scheduling, supporting scholarship and college success programs, and handling general office and administrative tasks as needed.

This position will work approx. 9 weeks (late June through August or early September), 35 hours per week.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with research and writing projects, which may include research to support TPI thought leadership and field-building projects;
  • Grants management support, which may include review of grant proposals, creation of grant summaries, and other due diligence;
  • Schedule site visits and stakeholder interviews;
  • Scholarship and college success program support, which may include tracking student data and scholarship eligibility, communication with financial aid offices or university staff, and administrative and event support;
  • Provide research support and compile data for client reports; and
  • General administrative office tasks.

  • Individuals assigned to this position may perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Preparation, Knowledge, Previous Experience:

  • High School degree or GED required; and
  • Some college or graduate school preferred.

Skills, Abilities, Competencies

  • Proven successful experience with time management and administrative tasks;
  • Proven successful research experience and skills;
  • Proven computer literacy required (Microsoft 365 familiarity required; experience with grantmaking software such as Foundant a plus); and
  • Interest in philanthropy preferred, demonstrated through relevant coursework, engagement in the social impact sector (for example, as a nonprofit employee, volunteer, or program participant), or other relevant experience.

  • Ability to use a computer keyboard for extended periods of time; and
  • The ability to work on site and remotely, as required.
