How your role fits into Boldt:
As Workforce Development Manager for the Boldt Company, you will be responsible for and lead our Youth Apprenticeship (YA) program and build strategies to bring employees into our Union Apprenticeship program. This role has responsibility for recruiting and developing the next generation of our craft workforce at The Boldt Company. In this role you will partner with both our Operational and Corporate leaders to design job opportunities to provide rich and fulfilling work experiences for youth apprentices. You will partner with school systems, building trades unions, and external partners across the country to develop and maintain relationships which result in our finding top tier talent.
Required Skills

- Lead Boldt’s Youth Apprenticeship (YA) recruiting strategies and lead high school campus recruitment efforts across the company. Identify students for co-op and youth apprenticeship opportunities within Boldt and ensure an enriching educational and career exploration experience.
- Develop strategies to strengthen our Union Apprenticeship program. Participate in developing recruitment strategies for our union teams.
- Provide guidance, oversight, and support to operating groups on our workforce development strategic goals.
- Design and coordinate workforce initiatives with the goal of identifying trends to facilitate strategic workforce recruiting that connect Boldt with diverse candidate pools not typically represented by our Unions.
- Partner with external organizations to identify youth apprenticeship talent and partnership opportunities to build our program. Cultivate the Boldt brand among our external partners and develop metrics showing program partnerships and success.
- Identify and partner with key Unions to build talent pipelines and provide career opportunities on Boldt projects.
- Partner with our Operating Groups to identify and coordinate construction project opportunities for youth apprenticeship students.
- Coordinate and lead events such as Signing Day, National Apprenticeship Week, classroom presentations, union training center tours, jobsite tours and trades demonstration days for our current and potential Youth Apprenticeship and Union Apprentice employees.
- Build event toolkits to be used throughout the company.
- Provide oversight and metrics on our external partnerships and program performance. Prepare workforce reports and program summaries and present findings to senior management, for use in strategic decision making or planning.
- Maintain our social media presence for our YA and Apprenticeship programs.
- Assist with mentoring and developing youth apprentices through career development plans and educational experiences. Identify mentors for our youth apprentices and follow up on a regular basis to ensure a rich employment experience is occurring.
- Follow up with Boldt supervisors and YA schools to ensure required paperwork for program is completed.
- Maintain, facilitate and/or coordinate our YA development program educational offerings including YA Orientation, Safety trainings, etc.
- Provide recommendations and plan for annual budgeting for the program.
- Develop additional methods and programs to recruit craft workers to the company.
Required Experience
What we expect from you:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
- 5 years of proven experience in Human Resources, Workforce Development, or community relations.
- Extensive client relationship management experience.
- Ability to manage relationships and alignment with partners, clients and community agencies.
- Strong desire and dedication to increase diversity and inclusion among teams and partnerships.
- Serve in consultative capacity on local agency committees.
- Experience in making employment decisions and experience in departmental budgeting, planning, and procedural change.
- Experience analyzing and interpreting data to make decisions, including tracking and reporting on metrics, goals, and achievements.
- Extensive knowledge of the construction field's policies, procedures, and practices.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position for up to eight hours. The employee occasionally is required to move to access people or workspaces. Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer. The ability to effectively communicate is required. The employee may occasionally move up to 30 pounds. The employee is regularly required to travel (as vehicle driver and as passenger on various modes of transportation) and frequently performs work on-site at construction work sites or trade shows and at various schools and community outreach facilities. Specific abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee views computer monitor frequently. The employee is required to be able to effectively communicate while in the office, on the jobsite, and throughout the completion of duties.
The working condition of this position requires the employee to work inside an office environment. The environment for which this position functions may contain scents and fragrances. May be requested to work overtime and weekends.
