How Your Role Fits Into Boldt

The Safety Specialist will be responsible for ensuring all required internal and external reporting obligations are met, including monthly reporting of site safety metrics. Through planning, leading, evaluating, and continuously improving the awareness and practice of safe construction methods, the specialist will strive to create a project environment encouraging a collaborative working spirit and an integrated project culture.

What You Get To Do

  • Control hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through safety management and collaboration with department leadership.
  • Collaborate with site leadership to outline safety plans. Coordinate with subcontractors to understand their safety requirements and embed into the company’s plan as needed.
  • Participate in developing and conducting staff and craft safety orientation training programs to include forklift, fall protection, respiratory, confined space, etc.
  • Support project pre-planning, including Safety Task Analysis (STA) and Job Hazards Assessment (JHA) prior to project mobilization.
  • Conduct work area inspections and audits to ensure continued compliance.
  • Ensure safety policies and procedures are adhered to at assigned location.
  • Complete and track weekly, monthly, and annual inspections of equipment to ensure continued compliance.
  • Assist site leadership in the investigation and documentation of all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions/activities.
  • Review documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures, and implement appropriate corrective action as required.
  • Create and maintain relationships with all job site employees to ensure safety program buy-in and accountability for reporting safety issues.
  • Participate in Project Lifecycle Safety Planning.
  • Handle safety plans and goals to ensure objectives are being met. Develop plans to assist team in meeting goals.
  • Partner with senior safety leadership in planning for high-risk activities.

What We Expect From You

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Construction management or other related field required. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • At least one year experience in construction and/or industrial safety required.
  • First aid and/or CPR certification preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license may be required. Individuals in this role may be subject to an annual Motor Vehicle Records check. The outcome of any MVR checks conducted may negatively impact the persons’ ability to participate in any vehicle program provided by the company, including but not limited to the ability to drive a personal vehicle on behalf of The Boldt Company or rent a vehicle through for business travel purposes.

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to position objects and operate tools or controls. Employee occasionally uses computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to position self to maneuver in confined or awkward spaces. The employee regularly is required to remain in a stationary position and move to access people or machinery or workspaces. Employee is occasionally required to ascend and/or descend a ladder or stairs to reach work areas. The employee must regularly move up to 20 pounds and occasionally move up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly required to travel (as vehicle driver and as passenger on various modes of transportation) and frequently performs work on-site at construction work sites. Specific abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee views computer monitor regularly. The employee is required to be able to effectively communicate while on the job site and throughout the completion of duties.

The working conditions of this position requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to maintain safety and prevent exposure to harmful materials. The environment for which this position functions may be exposed to prolonged loud noises and may contain scents and fragrances. May be requested to work overtime and weekends.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $73,000 - $82,000 per year. This range represents what The Boldt Company reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered will be dependent upon numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to: candidate qualifications, skills, experience, education, location, alignment with market data and internal equity as well as other business and organizational needs. Our expectation is that the incumbent will work out of our Waukesha, WI office. If the incumbent works out of a different location, the anticipated salary range is subject to change.
