We're looking for individuals with strong lifeguarding and swim lesson skills to contribute to the safety and enjoyment of our aquatic facilities. Located on Martha's Vineyard in Edgartown, MA, our club values creating a welcoming recreational experience for families.
Approximate dates for this position are June 15, 2026 through September 7, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Emergency Response/First Aid: Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies in and out of the water
- Facility Operations: Perform daily opening, mid-shift, and closing tasks for all aquatic facilities, contributing to a seamless operation
- Friendly Service: Demonstrate friendliness, approachability, and a positive attitude when engaging with members
- Overall Presentation: Preserve a clean and inviting atmosphere, contributing to the overall presentation of our aquatic facilities.
- Swim Tests & Policy Enforcement: Facilitate and record swim tests. Enforce all pool policies, rules, and regulations diligently.
- Weekly In-Service Training: Participate in weekly lifeguard in-service trainings to showcase and further develop surveillance, water rescue, and emergency care skills.
- Documentation: Record all aquatic data accurately and perform pool chemical tests daily.
- Swim Lessons: Conduct swim lessons for individuals and groups, tailoring instruction to various skill levels and age groups
Qualifications
- Must be 17 years of age or older
- High School Graduate
- One or more years experience lifeguarding required
- Valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid Certificate
- Valid Water Safety Instructor Certification
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, variable shifts, and in potentially hazardous conditions
- An understanding of aquatic facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures
- Ability to think critically and effectively problem solve both individually and with a team
- Must show excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience working in the hospitality/resort industry highly preferred
- Commitment from mid-June to Labor Day preferred
- Ability to work in a standing or walking position for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Pay: $22.00 - $50.00 per hour
