We’re union signatory and proud to support organizations that build and serve working people.
Mission: BMA exists to honor the dignity of skilled work by helping building trades unions tell their story with excellence, integrity, and measurable impact.
Vision: Every union organization effectively communicates its message to its target audiences.
Values:
1) Honor the Work. Serve First. Respect the dignity of skilled trades; lead with humility and responsiveness.
2) Craft with Excellence Sweat the details; deliver work we’re proud to put our name on.
3) Integrity. Own the Outcome. Do the right thing; keep commitments; take responsibility end-to-end.
4) Measure What Matters Use data to prove impact, learn fast, and decide better.
5) Build People, Build the Business Coach, grow leaders, and build a culture worth staying for.
We’re hiring an associate-level Strategic Communications Lead / Account Manager to help lead messaging, editorial quality, and client communication for union and labor-adjacent campaigns. This role blends strategic communications (asking the right questions, shaping message frameworks, ensuring accuracy) with account management (client coordination, project clarity, approvals, and follow-through).
This is a great fit for someone with strong editorial instincts who can translate complex topics into clear, credible, campaign-ready content—and keep projects moving.
- Client clarity and confidence: clients feel heard, guided, and confident in what we’re recommending.
- Messaging that’s accurate and on-brand: deliverables are credible, consistent, and aligned to campaign goals.
- Smooth approvals: fewer rewrites and surprises; clear review paths and deadlines.
- Production-ready inputs: your briefs, notes, and message frameworks help our creative/content teams execute faster.
- Lead client discovery and ongoing communication: run intakes, capture requirements, and document decisions.
- Build campaign messaging foundations (e.g., key messages, audiences, proof points, calls-to-action, do/don’t guidance).
- Serve as editorial lead on written deliverables: web copy, blogs, email copy, statements, scripts, toolkits, and campaign assets.
- Ensure accuracy, tone, and consistency (AP style familiarity is a plus), including fact-checking and claim hygiene.
- Translate complex inputs (legislation, governance, union/trades context, stakeholder nuance) into clear language.
- Coordinate internal handoffs: write briefs, keep tasks unblocked, and maintain alignment across creative, video, digital, and web.
- Manage timelines and approvals in collaboration with project management: agendas, recap notes, next steps, and due dates.
- Maintain and improve repeatable processes: templates for briefs, intakes, message houses, and editorial checklists.
- 3–7 years in communications, editorial, journalism, public affairs, agency account management, or related work.
- Strong writing and editing skills with excellent judgment (clarity, tone, accuracy, and audience fit).
- Comfortable interviewing stakeholders and asking sharp discovery questions.
- Ability to turn messy inputs into structured messaging and production-ready briefs.
- Strong organization: deadlines, follow-ups, approvals, and documentation.
- Client-facing confidence: you can guide conversations, not just take notes.
- Experience with unions, trades, advocacy, public sector, or regulated/issue-based communications.
- Familiarity with AP style or newsroom-style editing.
- Experience supporting multi-channel campaigns (web, email, social, video scripts).
- Salary range: $52,000-$65,000 (associate level; based on experience and writing/editorial strength).
- Benefits: 100% Premium Paid Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance, 4% 401k Auto Deposit - No match required, $1.45 Pension contributions per hour. (Estimated total value of $15,096 - $30,000 depending on final salary compensation value and individual/family plan needs).
- Beginning 3 weeks paid time off and company holidays.
Send your resume and 2–3 writing/editing samples (before/after edits welcome).
Salary : $15,096 - $30,000
