Description:

The Blake School seeks a skilled and passionate part-time low strings sectional coach to support the Upper School orchestra program from September 2026-May 2027.

This position leads twice-monthly sectional/masterclasses for cello and/or double bass students on Blake’s Upper School campus in Minneapolis. Blake strongly encourages applications from candidates who will enrich the diversity of identity, lived experience and thinking that makes a community strong and empowers students to engage across differences.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience teaching low strings to high school students (grades 9-12)
  • Expertise in strings pedagogy, rehearsal planning and implementation
  • Experience teaching both small groups and one-on-one instruction
  • BA/BM required; MM preferred
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty and administrators
  • Excellent communication skills

Rate of Pay: $55 per hour

This rate of pay includes the expected rate for this position. In making a rate of pay determination, we consider professional experience, applicable qualifications and other job-related factors. Based on these factors, a candidate's rate of pay offer could exceed this range.
