Primary Responsibilities:
- Implement recreational therapy interventions in alignment with each client's individualized care plan.
- Design and facilitate leisure activities that support emotional well-being, cognitive functioning, and physical wellness.
- Support clients in re-integrating into their communities by participating in social, volunteer, educational, and recreational activities.
- Teach and promote independent use of adaptive equipment and community resources for accessible recreation.
- Foster positive social skills and build confidence through one-on-one and small group recreational engagement.
- Encourage client-led choices and empower informed decision-making related to activities, schedules, and personal growth.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support therapeutic goals across life domains.
- Provide support for basic life skills (budgeting, household routines, healthy habits) as part of holistic care.
- Offer assistance with safe mobility in both home and community environments.
- Transport clients as needed to community-based activities, ensuring safety and fostering independence.
- Deliver consistent, clear documentation of client progress and participation in Microsoft Word or Excel.
- Attend required team meetings, in-service trainings, and professional development sessions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field preferred.
- State Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.
- 1–2 years' experience working with adults with TBI or developmental disabilities required.
- Familiarity with therapeutic interventions focused on wellness, motivation, and social engagement.
- Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and auto insurance (100/300/50 coverage with business use).
- Ability to lift 25–80 lbs regularly.
- Clear results on criminal background and driving record checks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating with the care team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Reader.
