Client Liaison – Detox & Residential Substance Abuse Treatment
The Client Liaison serves as a primary support contact for clients throughout detoxification and residential treatment. This role focuses on building therapeutic rapport, reducing Against Medical Advice (AMA) discharges, supporting engagement in treatment, and facilitating comprehensive aftercare planning. The Client Liaison works collaboratively with clinical, medical, and case management teams to ensure continuity of care and successful transitions post-discharge.
This is a full-time, on-site position requiring flexibility, strong communication skills, and a passion for recovery.
Key ResponsibilitiesClient Engagement & Rapport Building
- Establish and maintain supportive, professional relationships with clients from admission through discharge.
- Provide encouragement, accountability, and recovery-focused guidance.
- Conduct daily client check-ins to assess motivation, barriers to treatment, and emotional well-being.
- Model healthy recovery behaviors and boundaries.
AMA Prevention (AMA Block)
- Identify early warning signs of potential AMA discharges.
- Intervene proactively with motivational interviewing techniques.
- Collaborate with clinical and medical teams to address client concerns contributing to potential discharge.
- Document interventions thoroughly in accordance with facility policy and regulatory standards.
Aftercare & Discharge Planning Support
- Assist case management and clinical teams in coordinating appropriate aftercare services, including:
- PHP/IOP placements
- Sober living arrangements
- Outpatient therapy
- MAT providers
- 12-step and community-based recovery resources
- Ensure clients understand and are prepared for their next level of care.
- Support warm hand-offs to continuing care providers.
12-Step & Recovery Support
- Provide education on 12-step principles and recovery pathways.
- Encourage participation in on-site and community recovery meetings.
- Facilitate peer support and accountability.
- Share lived recovery experience when appropriate and in alignment with professional boundaries.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EMR.
- Communicate effectively with therapists, medical staff, case managers, and admissions.
- Uphold HIPAA, confidentiality, and ethical standards at all times.
Qualifications
- RDAT (Registered Addiction Technician) required (or eligible within designated timeframe per state regulations).
- Strong working knowledge of 12-step recovery principles.
- Minimum 1–2 years experience in substance abuse treatment (detox, residential, PHP, or IOP preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to manage crisis situations and de-escalate clients.
- Understanding of substance use disorders, withdrawal processes, and levels of care.
- Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills.
- Passion for recovery and helping individuals achieve long-term sobriety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Personal recovery experience (minimum sobriety time requirement may apply per company policy).
- Experience with motivational interviewing.
- Knowledge of community recovery resources.
- Familiarity with insurance-driven treatment environments and step-down placement processes.
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to walk facility grounds, attend groups, and engage with clients throughout the day.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.
- Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
