Company Description The Berman Center is a mental health and substance misuse treatment center that offers a path forward for individuals and families seeking healing and stability. Grounded in Jewish values of community, healing, and wholeness, the center uses a spiritually holistic approach to help participants move from surviving to thriving. Treatment plans are customized and multidisciplinary, addressing clinical, emotional, and family needs. The Berman Center provides Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for adults 18 and an IOP for adolescents ages 14–18. The team works collaboratively to create a supportive, inclusive environment for participants and their loved ones.

Role Description The Admissions Counselor is a full-time, on-site role based in Atlanta, GA, responsible for guiding prospective participants and their families through the admission process. This role conducts initial phone and in-person inquiries, gathers clinical and demographic information, and completes preliminary assessments to determine program fit. The Admissions Counselor provides clear, compassionate communication about program options, schedules intake appointments, and coordinates with clinical and administrative teams to ensure a smooth transition into care. Day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining accurate records in the admissions system, following up with referral sources, and supporting individuals and families in understanding treatment recommendations, financial considerations, and next steps. The role also involves collaborating with community partners, attending outreach events as needed, and upholding all ethical, legal, and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal communication and communication skills to engage sensitively and effectively with individuals and families in crisis.
  • Customer service skills to provide responsive, empathetic, and solution-focused support throughout the admissions process.
  • Sales and education skills to clearly explain program offerings, address questions, and guide prospective participants toward appropriate treatment options.
  • Experience or education in mental health, social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field (degree or equivalent experience preferred).
  • Ability to manage multiple inquiries, prioritize tasks, and maintain detailed and accurate documentation in electronic systems.
  • Familiarity with behavioral health, substance misuse treatment, or higher level-of-care referrals is highly beneficial.
  • Commitment to inclusive, nonjudgmental, and culturally sensitive care aligned with The Berman Center’s mission and values.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Atlanta, GA, with occasional flexible hours based on participant and family needs.
