Overview
We are seeking a Wastewater Operator-in-Training for assignment in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. The selected candidate will follow and learn form experienced operators in how to operate and maintain a wastewater treatment facility.
Hours are Wednesday - Friday, 7:00pm - 7:00am
** This is a Night Shift position **
** Candidates must be willing to take the Rhode Island Grade 1 Certification exam **
Responsibilities
- Learn and gain skill in a variety of equipment maintenance, servicing and operating tasks
- Operate treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/wastewater, sludge and effluent
- Monitor gauges, meters and control panels
- Observe and report abnormalities to Certified Operator
- Operate valves and gates either manually or by remote control
- Start and stops pumps, engines and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processes
- Maintain shift log and record meter and gauge readings
- Take and record readings produced from the operation of equipment
- Take samples and perform routine process laboratory tests and analysis under supervision of certified operator
- This position may be required to be available on an on-call basis for emergencies
- Travel between work locations is required
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- A valid Drivers License
- Familiarity with hand and power tools
- Willingness to study and take the Rhode Island Wastewater Certification exam
