Offshore Operations & Procedures Engineer (GOA)
Join our Gulf of Mexico (GOM) Production Engineering Department as an Offshore Operations & Procedures Engineer (GOA) and help drive safe, compliant, and high-performing subsea operations. In this hybrid role based in The Woodlands, TX, you’ll partner closely with Assets, Plants, and Operational Support teams to plan and control program execution—supporting offshore facilities, investigating subsea system anomalies, and improving hardware/control interfaces through data-driven troubleshooting and well-crafted procedures
Required Skills:
- Primary offshore facility support: Act as the main point of contact for one or more offshore facilities supporting subsea system operational issues and interfaces
- Anomaly/failure investigation: Identify, coordinate investigation, and maintain historic records in the Asset Tracking Register database
- Troubleshooting & intervention scope management: Manage troubleshooting and light intervention work scopes (scheduling, cost management, procedure development, and execution)
- Technical interface improvement: Collaborate with production engineers and offshore operations to improve subsea hardware, control systems, and operator HMI/software interfaces
- Surveillance & performance monitoring: Conduct surveillance using data trends and analysis (SEEQ) and work with production/operations teams
- Recommendations & value cases: Recommend subsea improvements/upgrades and prepare/present value cases for stakeholder approval
- Cross-discipline reviews: Participate in internal and external multi-discipline engineering and risk reviews
- Obsolescence management: Contribute to development/implementation of subsea obsolescence management strategies
- SSLD working knowledge: Review Subsea Leak Detection System (SSLD) alarms and support closure, updates, and performance/infrastructure improvements
- Training & enablement: Develop and deliver training on subsea equipment/hardware to offshore production teams
- Contractor/offshore relationship building: Maintain strong relationships with 3rd-party contractors and offshore operations for safe delivery and issue resolution
- HSE leadership: Provide leadership for top-tier HSE performance aligned with Oxy LiveSafe values
- Stakeholder communication: Communicate project performance clearly to stakeholders
Nice to Have Skills:
- Strong technical writing skills, especially writing detailed test and execution procedures
- Detailed knowledge of Subsea Control Modules, including leading troubleshooting/diagnostics
- Experience planning and leading control system hardware/software updates on offshore platforms
- Experience executing ROV vessel IRM campaigns
- Familiarity with SEEQ and OSIsoft Pi
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or similar Engineering
- Minimum 10 years experience in deep water subsea and offshore engineering
