The Benjamin School is seeking Part-time Substitute Teachers for its North Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens campuses.
Position Summary:
The Benjamin School is seeking compassionate and reliable Part-time Substitute Teachers. In the absence of the regular classroom teacher, the Substitute Teacher helps students learn subject matter and/or skills required for scheduled lessons and provides meaningful instruction. This is an on-call position ideal for candidates with a passion for teaching and a readiness to contribute to a caring school environment.
Compensation:
The part-time Substitute Teacher position offers a daily rate of $150.00 per day
Work Schedule:
The hours for this position may vary depending on assignments.
- Upper School full-day work schedule is 7:30 AM - 3:15 PM
- Middle School full-day work schedule is 7:45 AM – 3:45 PM
- Lower School full-day work schedule is 7:30 AM - 3:15 PM

Essential Functions and Tasks:
- Follows sign-in and sign-out procedures as prescribed by the Division assistants.
- Oversees a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
- Guides the learning process toward achieving the curriculum goals and objectives outlined in the lesson plans for the lessons, units, or projects assigned.
- Maintains a neat and orderly classroom.
- Takes attendance following school procedures.
- Ensures that the students are never left unattended in the classroom.
- May perform duties usually required of absent teachers, such as lunch duty, recess duty, etc.
- Understands and follows the procedures for emergency evacuation routes for the assigned classrooms.
- Understands and follows procedures for referring students with disciplinary problems.
- Understands and follows school procedures and regulations.
- Performs other related duties as directed by Division personnel.
- Adheres to The Benjamin School policies described in the Employee Handbook.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to prioritize and work independently and address several challenges simultaneously.
- Possession of a pleasant and collaborative style in the workplace, including a professional attitude.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment.
- Well-versed in technology, various software suites, and office equipment related to the position.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Effective managerial techniques and approaches; positive leadership style.
- Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field required, relevant field of study that applies to the classroom.
Physical and Work Requirements:
- Duties require extended periods of time standing, walking, sitting, talking, and hearing.
- Occasional movement about the school and lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
- Ability to work more than 7 hours a day.
