What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resource Team Assistant position at The Benedictine School?
Summary:
The Resource Team Assistant provides crisis intervention for students as needed during residential hours and helps enhance the staff’s capabilities to manage student behaviors through training, suite observations, and incident report investigations/debriefings. The Resource Team Assistant may train school residential staff in Benedictine-approved behavioral management techniques.
Schedule:
Sun – Thurs OR Tues – Sat, 3pm to 10pm with Sun or Sat shift 9am to 9pm; OR FSSM, 3pm to 10pm F and M, with Sat and Sun shift 9am to 9pm
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Consistently report to work on time as scheduled, prepared to perform assigned duties and responsibilities for the entire scheduled shift.
- Respond to and provide intervention for any crisis events. Lead or participate in student crisis interventions in accordance with individual Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
- Implement and oversee any BIP follow up as needed. Provide ongoing training to residential staff on student BIP’s.
- Complete “Train-the-Trainer” certification for the Benedictine approved behavior management program.
- Monitor and observe suites; monitor and observe all general activity periods including mealtimes.
- Notify supervisor of any incidents and complete DHR Reports within expected timelines, as needed.
- Review all incident reports and participate in the incident debriefing process.
- Train staff in the correct procedures for completing incident reports.
- Attend new admission meetings as required.
- Monitor protocols for use of safety equipment.
- Monitor staff use of safety equipment and maintain inventory records.
- Assist in elopement searches.
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
- Observe and spend time with students in potentially escalating situations.
- Participate in Safety Committee Meetings. Lead safety drills as required.
- Attend and participate in all required school residential and student-related meetings.
- Cooperate with Benedictine administration and in-state/out-of-state agencies in any inspection or investigation.
- Attend and successfully complete mandatory trainings and maintain job-specific certifications/licenses.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required if 21 years old or older; associates degree in social services or related field required if between the ages of 18 and 21.
- Must have at least one year of experience working with youth and young adults with developmental disabilities.
- Must be computer proficient.
- Must have excellent writing skills.
- Must demonstrate composure and professionalism in crisis situations.
- Must obtain Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification within one year of employment in the position.
- Must be RCYCP-certified or obtain certification within 3 months of employment in the position.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
- Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. upon offer.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and pre-employment physical.
- Must pass pre-employment criminal background checks through CJIS as stated in Family Law Article 5-561, and pass pre-employment CPS check.
- (If applicable) If position requires driving, must have current and valid driver’s license in good standing and must have a driving record that would permit coverage under Benedictine driver’s insurance.
- Must be a strong advocate of the Benedictine mission to help children and adults with developmental disabilities achieve their greatest potential and be motivated to contribute to the mission with pride and integrity.

- Must be able to lift or push 50 lbs.
- Must be able to see clearly with ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time.
- Must have a functional range of motion in all legs, arms, hands, and fingers.
- Must be physically able to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
- Must be able to speak and hear clearly.
