DEPARTMENT: Emergency Department
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR JOB TITLE: Emergency Services Director
Position Summary. The Emergency RN provides care for patients across the lifespan from infants to elderly age. The RN must recognize and effectively treat illnesses and injuries of various acuities including life threatening conditions. The RN must anticipate potential changes in patient condition and be prepared for patients to decompensate.
Essential Functions
- The RN collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective holistic patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes.
- Analyzes information, develops and implements plan of care, evaluates results and makes adjustments as necessary.
- Documents patient care reflecting the patient condition and the care provided.
- Integrates experience and critical thinking skills to ensure safe patient care.
- Participates in quality improvement activities by identifying, implementing, and monitoring process changes.
- The RN must recognize and effectively treat illnesses and injuries of various acuities including life threatening conditions.
Non-essential Functions

Position Requirements
- The 24 hour operations of the department require a weekend and holiday rotation.
- Current licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio
- Previous Emergency Nursing preferred, but not required
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS
- ACLS
- PALS

- Ability to reason and make critical decisions.
- Mentally alert and detail orientated, capable of dealing with a diversity of tasks and interruptions
- Demonstrates self direction.
- Ability to organize, prioritizes, and performs tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to remain calm and functional in emergency situations or when there is conflict.
Physical Requirements
Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
