What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facility Maintenance Technician position at The Beistle Company?
Summary: The Facilities Maintenance Technician will monitor all building utility systems and perform maintenance and grounds keeping as needs dictate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Monitors utility systems such as water supply, electrical systems, plumbing, piping, and HVAC
- Inspects affected systems and areas when a malfunction is detected
- Diagnoses and corrects utility problems when possible; contacts outside contractors to repair utility problems when necessary.
- Conducts routine maintenance checks and performs preventive maintenance on utility equipment
- Notifies supervisor of utility equipment needing additional attention or repairs
- Monitors supply room and inventory of hand and power tools as well as spare parts
- Operates machinery such as a forklift, portable and self-propelled scissors lift / scaffolding and other powered industrial equipment (Training provided)
- Assists in new construction projects
- Mows and trims lawns, prunes trees and shrubbery, and waters and fertilizes vegetation outside; clears grounds and walkways of debris or fallen leaves; weeds
- Cleans company vehicles and maintains proper fluid levels, including gas tanks
- Checks all aspects of well weekly, e.g. well depth and condition
- Changes light bulbs and ballasts as needed
- Takes electrical readings throughout the facility
- Maintains ponds for fire protection, testing water and adding chemicals to control bacteria
- Operates chain saws and other wood-cutting equipment as needed
- Clears underbrush and repair fences on undeveloped property
- Monitors waste collector/baler
- Disposes of used cleaning chemicals appropriately
- Removes snow hazards from parking areas and walkways with various machines
- Has general understanding of the fire panel signal set, LED light system and alarm panel modes
- Understands the fire sprinkler system function
- Performs security functions to lock / unlock and set Security Alarms in windows and doors at all facilities
- Tests and cleans all batteries as needed; keeps records of purchase/expiration dates
- Follows all safety procedural guidelines
- Performs other related duties as assigned
