Overview


The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard is seeking a Licensed Clinical Psychologist to join our Psychology Department in Philadelphia, PA.

This full-time opportunity is ideal for a Pennsylvania Licensed Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Behavioral Health Psychologist, or Mental Health Psychologist with experience in psychological assessment, psychological testing, psychotherapy, behavioral health, or inpatient psychiatric care.

The Licensed Clinical Psychologist will provide psychological evaluations, psychological testing, individual and group psychotherapy, family interventions, crisis intervention, behavioral assessments, and interdisciplinary treatment planning for adults experiencing acute psychiatric illness, serious mental illness (SMI), substance use disorders, personality disorders, and co-occurring behavioral health conditions.

You will work alongside psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, Behavioral Health Technicians, Creative Arts Therapists, psychology interns, and other behavioral health professionals within a multidisciplinary treatment environment.

Important: All new hires must be available to attend a mandatory five-day orientation Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM before beginning their regular work schedule.


Responsibilities


Psychological Assessment and Testing

• Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations and clinical interviews

• Administer, score, interpret, and document psychological assessments

• Conduct cognitive, intelligence, personality, and neuropsychological testing

• Prepare comprehensive psychological evaluation reports

• Utilize assessment findings to support diagnosis and treatment planning

• Present clinical findings and recommendations to the interdisciplinary treatment team


Psychotherapy and Behavioral Health Treatment

• Provide evidence-based individual psychotherapy

• Facilitate group psychotherapy utilizing cognitive, behavioral, supportive, psychoeducational, and process-oriented approaches

• Provide family therapy and family support interventions

• Conduct crisis intervention and behavioral consultation as needed

• Develop individualized treatment recommendations and behavioral interventions

• Assist patients with coping skills, emotional regulation, social functioning, and community reintegration

• Participate in therapeutic milieu interventions and community meetings


Interdisciplinary Behavioral Health Care

• Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, Behavioral Health Technicians, Creative Arts Therapists, and other healthcare professionals

• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings

• Develop individualized treatment plans and behavioral interventions

• Support continuity of care throughout hospitalization and discharge planning

• Contribute to behavioral health programming and clinical initiatives

Clinical Education and Supervision

• Provide supervision and mentoring to psychology practicum students and psychology interns as assigned

• Support psychology internship and practicum training activities

• Participate in departmental meetings, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives

• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation within the Electronic Health Record (EHR)


Qualifications


Education

• Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.), or Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Psychology from an accredited institution required

• Completion of a one-year supervised clinical internship required

• American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) certification preferred


Licensure

• Current Pennsylvania Psychologist License issued by the State Board of Psychology required


Experience

• Minimum of one year of post-doctoral clinical psychology experience preferred

• Experience with psychological assessment and psychological testing preferred

• Experience in inpatient psychiatry, behavioral health, psychiatric hospitals, community mental health, substance use treatment, correctional mental health, or related clinical settings strongly preferred

• One year of postdoctoral residency may be substituted for one year of experience


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong knowledge of psychopathology, psychological assessment, and evidence-based psychotherapy

• Experience administering and interpreting psychological assessments

• Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic skills

• Ability to provide individual and group psychotherapy

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Excellent clinical documentation and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary behavioral health team

• Strong interpersonal skills when working with patients, families, and healthcare professionals

• Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Microsoft Office applications


Work Environment

This position is based within a secure inpatient behavioral health hospital and requires direct interaction with adults experiencing acute psychiatric illness, serious mental illness, substance use disorders, and co-occurring behavioral health conditions.

The Licensed Clinical Psychologist must be able to respond effectively to behavioral health crises while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries, clinical judgment, ethical standards, and patient-centered care.
