Position Overview

The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard is seeking a compassionate and experienced Addiction Medicine Physician / Addictionologist to join our multidisciplinary clinical team in Philadelphia.

In this role, the physician will provide comprehensive, evidence-based care to individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring behavioral health conditions across inpatient and outpatient settings.

The Addiction Medicine Physician will conduct clinical assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, manage medical withdrawal and medication-assisted treatment, and collaborate closely with therapists, case managers, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to support each patient's recovery and overall well-being.

This is a day shift opportunity well suited for a physician committed to evidence-based addiction treatment, patient-centered care, and interdisciplinary collaboration while serving individuals with complex medical, behavioral health, and social needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive medical and addiction-focused clinical assessments

• Diagnose and treat substance use disorders and co-occurring behavioral health conditions

• Develop and oversee individualized treatment plans based on each patient's clinical needs

• Provide medical management of withdrawal and stabilization when appropriate

• Provide and manage medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and other evidence-based pharmacologic interventions for substance use disorders

• Prescribe and manage medications used in addiction treatment, including buprenorphine when clinically appropriate

• Monitor patient progress, treatment response, medication effectiveness, and ongoing clinical needs

• Collaborate with therapists, case managers, nurses, behavioral health professionals, and other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team

• Provide clinical guidance and support related to addiction medicine and patient care

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

• Support continuity of care and long-term recovery planning across inpatient and outpatient services

• Maintain a patient-centered approach while working with medically, behaviorally, and socially complex populations

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Addiction Medicine, Addiction Psychiatry, or a related specialty

• Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience providing addiction medicine services, preferably serving medically and socially complex populations

• Current DEA registration and Pennsylvania prescriptive authority

• Eligible and authorized to prescribe buprenorphine and other medications used in the treatment of substance use disorders

• Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care

• Strong ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team

• Commitment to supporting individuals throughout the recovery process
