Responsibilities
- Assist licensed occupational therapists in developing and implementing individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs.
- Support patients in performing activities of daily living such as dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility exercises to promote independence.
- Facilitate therapy sessions for diverse populations including pediatrics, adults in outpatient settings, and seniors in skilled nursing or home health environments.
- Monitor patient progress and document responses to interventions accurately within medical records while adhering to confidentiality standards.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, and safety measures to ensure continued progress outside of therapy sessions.
- Assist with assessments related to physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology to better understand patient conditions and treatment goals.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals—to optimize patient outcomes across inpatient, outpatient, or home health settings.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and occupational health principles.
- Proven experience assisting with ADLs and providing patient-centered care in acute care or skilled nursing facility environments.
- Familiarity with home health care practices and outpatient clinic operations.
- Ability to work effectively in inpatient settings with diverse patient populations including geriatrics and pediatrics.
- Excellent communication skills for educating patients and coordinating with healthcare teams.
