JOB SUMMARY:
The Occupational Therapist evaluates students to determine their functional levels, identify special needs, and plans/implements treatments to enhance school performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintain regular attendance.
• Maintain confidentiality and unquestionable integrity.
• Complies with State Law and District policies and regulations.
• Identifies pupil needs and develops strategies for individual education plans.
• Provide training to the appropriate persons to carry over and implement therapy goals in the school setting.
• Plan and implement therapeutic activities to assist students benefiting from their educational experiences.
• Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified impairments.
• Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialist in the community.
• Implements the requirements of the IEP.
• Maintains accurate files and paperwork for the individual students referred, screened and/or receiving therapy or other school-provided services.
• Assume responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies.
• Must be physically able to actively engage with students in various environments, which may include walking, running, bending, kneeling, or moving quickly to maintain proximity and ensure safety.
• Ability to safely lift over 50lbs.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Minimum 30 day notice required for resignation.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• Degree(s) required in major area of study.
• Current Certification in Occupational Therapy
o Will consider Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
• Employee must maintain all relevant certifications.
TEAM ENVIRONMENT:
• Ability to work with the team to problem solve sensory processing needs, while supporting the enhancement of the student's functional performance.
• This position requires ensuring not only your own work outcomes, but also the work outcomes of relevant staff and co-employees. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people, and interact with appropriate stakeholders as identified by the TBHA policies and Executive Team.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
• Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on district and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with student, peers, and parents.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform duties in full compliance with TBHA policies and requirements.
FLSA Status:
• Exempt, 12 month calendar
