What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bartender position at The Beer And Now?
We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being around people.
The Beer and Now is a neighborhood craft beer taproom and bottle shop where conversations matter just as much as the beer. We want customers to feel like they’re walking into their favorite local hangout, and we’re looking for someone who can help create that experience.
If you’re the kind of person who remembers names, makes people feel welcome, and enjoys talking with customers, you’ll fit right in. Beer knowledge is great—but personality is even better. We can teach beer. We can’t teach someone to genuinely enjoy taking care of people.
What You’ll Do
- Serve draft beer and assist customers with retail beer purchases
- Open and close the shop using established procedures
- Create a welcoming, friendly atmosphere for every guest
- Recommend beers based on customer preferences (we’ll teach you if you’re new to craft beer)
- Keep the taproom and retail area clean, organized, and stocked. (Yes, that means cleaning the bathroom too)
- Operate the point-of-sale system and handle transactions
- Help us come up with creative ideas to grow slower nights and build our community
- Pitch in wherever needed—we’re a small business, and everyone helps each other
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in bartending, serving, retail, or hospitality
- A positive attitude and a personality that makes people feel comfortable
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Dependable, trustworthy, and able to work independently
- Someone who takes pride in creating a great experience—not just completing tasks
- Craft beer knowledge is a bonus, but absolutely not required
Schedule
- Part-time position
- Availability for 2 weekday day shifts and least 1 weekend shift is required
- Flexibility to help cover shifts when needed is a big plus
Bonus Points
- You have worked in Lisle or nearby and already know the local community.
- You’re comfortable promoting events or sharing ideas to help bring people in on slower nights.
- You enjoy building relationships with regular customers.
