Job Title: Teacher – Lower School (Elementary Teacher)

Position Type: Faculty, Exempt, Full-Time

Reports to: Division Head

Start Date: August 1, 2026

Salary Range (include levels if applicable): $64,000 to $92,600 Annually

The Bear Creek School is currently seeking to add a member to our teaching team! Teachers are responsible for using a classical Christian education model to teach students, develop virtue, and help each student grow into the individual God intends. Lessons are carefully planned to inspire and motivate students and to support them in reaching the learning outcomes. A successful teacher creates a nurturing environment where all students feel known and valued.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Approach classroom instruction and student interactions from a Christian worldview
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams and department members to plan and implement the school’s classical curriculum
  • Plan and develop an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to educational best practices, set grade-level curriculum, and school curriculum guidelines
  • Design and present individual lesson plans in one or more academic subjects using a variety of teaching techniques to meet the needs of a variety of learners
  • Prepare materials for lessons, assignments, and tests; evaluate, correct, and grade student performance
  • Design small group and 1:1 plans and instruction to personalize learning for a diverse range of learners
  • Build partnership with parents through proactive communication
  • Create a predictable and supportive classroom environment
  • Participate in faculty meetings, educational conferences, in-service opportunities, workshops, and other training seminars
  • Prepare daily and weekly lesson plans to help students meet learning goals
  • Track student progress by maintaining required paperwork for individual student files, attendance and incident reports, and other necessary records
  • Participate in collaborative evaluation processes with Lower School Division Head and Vice President for Academic Affairs
  • Attend school events outside regular school hours including, but not limited to Parent/Teacher Conferences, Curriculum Night, arts performances, student socials, open houses, and professional development sessions
  • Maintain a learning environment that is organized and pleasant in appearance
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Teaching certificate preferred
  • Teaching experience preferred
  • Familiarity with classical methodology and Christian worldview integration preferred
  • Hold CPR/AED/First Aid certification (with epinephrine autoinjector supplement) or obtain certification within 90 days of employment start date
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer (sponsorship not available for this position)

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust one’s tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child

$64,000 to $92,600 Annually
