Role Description The Sommelier is a full-time, on-site role based in Miami, FL. Day-to-day responsibilities include advising guests on wine selections, pairing wines with menu items, and providing educational guidance on wine regions, varietals, and tasting notes. The Sommelier will help with wine inventory, support ordering and stock rotation, and ensure proper storage, presentation, and service standards. The role also involves collaborating closely with the culinary and service teams to design pairing menus, supporting wine sales through thoughtful recommendations, and contributing to staff training on wine knowledge and service. The Sommelier is expected to uphold The Bastion Collection’s commitment to hospitality, guest engagement, and quality in every interaction.
Qualifications
- Wine expertise, including Sommelier experience and strong skills in Wine Pairing to complement diverse menus and enhance guest satisfaction.
- Wine Sales abilities, with a focus on recommending selections that support revenue goals while maintaining guest-centered service.
- Food & Beverage knowledge, including understanding of fine dining service standards and how beverages integrate with culinary offerings.
- Clear and professional Communication skills to engage guests, collaborate with team members, and train staff on wine and service.
- Relevant certification such as Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET, or equivalent wine education is highly beneficial.
- Previous experience in upscale or fine dining environments, with demonstrated ability to manage wine lists and inventory.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
