Job Qualifications: Eligible interns will be enrolled in a graduate program in art history or another related field.

Moving:

  • Approximately 80% of time is spent seated while working at a desk.  
  • Ability to occasionally transport up to 25 lbs. of files, equipment or supplies.  
  • Ability to move to access files, equipment or supplies.

Vision Requirements:

  • This position requires extended time on the computer.

Communication Requirements:   

  • Clearly communicate in person, by phone, and by video conference.  
  • Communicate with others in conversational and written English. 

Working Conditions:

  • Position operates in the foundation’s buildings and on the foundation’s grounds at the Philadelphia campus.
  • Position requires extended time on the computer.

Job Responsibilities: Collections and Exhibitions Research internships include work with the Curatorial or Research and Interpretation departments. These teams are responsible for research and interpretation of the art and artifacts in the collection and the development and coordination of exhibitions. Preference is given to applicants who are graduate students in art history and whose studies cover a period of art history represented in the collection.

Interns may:

  • Research and write short and long format interpretive materials for the collection.
  • Work on the implementation of special exhibitions.
  • Present their ongoing research to colleagues in the Education, Research, and Collections departments.
  • Work with the Museum System (TMS), the Barnes’s collections management system.
