THE BARLOW Full Charge Bookkeeper — Sebastopol, CA
Full-Time | On-Site / Hybrid
Pay: $35.00 - $48.00 per hour

We are a commercial real estate development and management firm based in Sebastopol, California that manages The Barlow — an acclaimed mixed-use retail destination featuring NNN and percentage-rent tenancies — and a hotel development project in pre-construction. We are a collaborative, close-knit team that values expertise, ownership mentality, and a hands-on approach to projects.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Full Charge Bookkeeper to join us in our growing organization. This is a full-time role for a professional who thrives in a dynamic real estate environment. The ideal candidate will have 5 years bookkeeping experience. You will work closely with ownership and the broader team, with the expectation of being present in our Sebastopol office on a regular basis.
Key Responsibilities
Complete bookkeeping process
● Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
● Reconciling cash, bank accounts and revenues
● Maintaining an accurate general ledger
● Create journal entries for all accounts, including fixed assets
● Monitor the business’ cash flow
● Issuing invoices to and collecting payments
● Preparing monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements
● Processing employees’ timesheets and remitting payroll for provider processing
● Prepare and reconcile annual CAM, insurance, and real estate tax reconciliations for
tenants
● Calculate and audit percentage rent obligations based on tenant gross sales reports
● Coordinate with external CPAs on tax preparation and year-end reporting
● Prepare investor and lender reporting packages as required
● Identify and implement process improvements to accounting systems and workflows
Pre-Construction & Development Accounting
● Support financial planning and budgeting for an upcoming hotel development project
● Track pre-development costs, soft costs, and consultant fees across the project lifecycle
● Support the project manager in preparing and maintaining development cost schedules and cash flow projections in advance of construction
Qualifications
● 5 years bookkeeping experience
● Experience with Yardi accounting software is a plus
● NNN lease accounting, CAM reconciliations, and percentage rent structures, is a plus
● Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
● Clear and professional communication skills; comfortable working directly with
ownership
