Job Summary
The hours that this position requires are Tuesday - Friday 3-6pm and every other Saturday, 10-6pm. If you are unable to work these hours, then please reconsider applying.
This is a Fast Paced job. Unlike other resale jobs, this job is for someone who enjoys constant movement and can work on their feet for extended periods of time.
The Thrift Store Sales Associate assists in the daily operations, including store appearance and displays, customer assistance, stocking, and organization of store operations. The Sales Associate reports directly to the Retail Manager.
Responsibilities and Duties
The Sales Associate's responsibilities include:
- Handle cash and credit sales, and close out till at the end of the day
- Process, price and shelve incoming products
- Assist in cleaning and maintenence of the store
- Evaluate existing Thrift Store layout.
- Suggest & implement improvements.
- Maintain shelf organization & stocking.
- Run the register, make sales, answer customers' questions, channel customer complaints to proper avenues.
- Effectively communicate store policies to customers
- Provide a safe and welcoming retail environment to customers of all abilities/experience
- Maintain current knowledge of market prices for store items, and work to ensure pricing consistency amongst all staff.
Qualifications and Skills
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- High school Diploma/GED
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and team building skills.
- Ability to work unsupervised in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work unaccompanied, standing, and without defined break periods.
- Ability to bend, twist, and lift at least 20 lbs. in narrow spaces.
- Ability to work in varying outdoor climates and in-store cooler environments.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including Saturdays PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 6 months previous cash handling and customer service experience.
- Positive, out-going personality and effective verbal & written communication skills.
