Job Title: Payroll Clerk
Department: Human Resources
Reports To: Human Resource Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Clerk to process bi-weekly payroll and assist HR in maintaining Payroll software. The ideal candidate will also provide support to the HR Director and other HR employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process biweekly payroll accurately and within established deadlines
- Review employee timecards, and payroll-related documentation
- Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data accuracy with payroll and HR systems
- Process new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, direct deposit updates, and payroll garnishments
- Prepare payroll reports for management, and auditing purposes
- Assist with new hire onboarding processes and procedures
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, taxes, benefits, and leave requests and balances
- Verifies insurance billing statements and ancillary insurance statements for accuracy, make statements are paid timely.
- Reconciles payroll accounts to general ledger and assist with month-end year-end processes.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and payroll information
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience
- Working knowledge of payroll principles, wage and hour laws, and payroll tax laws
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Excel
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Strong organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of payroll processing procedures
- Experience with payroll software such as Paycom or similar systems
- Strong data entry and reconciliation skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues independently
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer
- Ability to occasionally lift and move files or materials up to 15 pounds
