What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finance Director position at The Baltimore Sun?
The Baltimore Sun is seeking a solid Finance Director to lead financial and treasury management and compliance. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with all levels of staff and have a strong ability to lead all finance and accounting functions across the company.
Essential Functions
- Provide strategic input and influence on initiatives from leadership, particularly on the impact on our revenue streams and accounting
- Manage financial duties including General Ledger oversight (reconciliations, journal entries, chart of accounts)
- Interface with and directly manage a third-party remote AR/AP/general accounting team
- Ability to join large systems migration project work including influencing setup
- Prepare, review and validate financial statements and reports
- Plan all treasury functions
- Coordinate and oversee the financial close process - monthly, quarterly, annual
- Lead all Compliance, Controls, Treasury Management including cash flow coordination and monitoring
- Oversee internal controls of financial systems & processes and GAAP
- Work with external reporting partners for tax preparation
- Demonstrate strong communication skills when collaborating with department leads, third-party service providers (accounting, banking, etc.), external accountants, etc.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor degree in accounting or finance; MBA preferred
- Current CPA license
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance & accounting responsibilities
- Ability to lead a remote team
Preferred Skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, and UKG Ready
Salary Range: $110,000 to 135,000
Individual compensation may vary from the target range based on several factors including experience, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
