SUMMARY:


Incumbent will possess strong automated and simplified issue underwriting skills to assess risk from insurance applicants on new business, contract changes, and reinstatements to make fair, consistent, and appropriate decisions in accordance with our underwriting guidelines, process and within legal and regulatory guidelines. This is not a traditional underwriting position as the incumbent should be more proficient in automated, simplified issue underwriting. 


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  1. Familiarity with automated, simplified issue underwriting process, including working with the industry vendors who support such process.
  2. Assess data and make issue decisions based on established risk guidelines 
  3. Review/analyze policy information and applications on contestable claims
  4. Strong data mining ability, including outside data resources and internal analytics
  5. Update current knowledge/obtain continuing education on life mortality and its effects upon risk selection
  6. Direct reinsurance submissions, coordinate processing with vendors
  7. Work with other departments on underwriting projects and initiatives
  8. Work with the chief underwriter on improving data reporting, analytic intelligence and metrics around underwriting production


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related major preferred 
  • LOMA ALMI preferred
  • FALU or AALU preferred
  • 3-5 Years Minimum Simplified Issue Life Underwriting experience required
  • Familiarity with life insurance enterprise systems desired

Salary : $70,000 - $88,000
