The Bakery Waterford is a family-run bakery on Dixie Highway in Waterford Township, Michigan, known for our custom cakes, wedding cakes, pastries, and warm community spirit. About the Role
We're looking for a creative, detail-oriented Cake Decorator who loves turning ideas into edible art. You'll work in a fun, supportive environment where your creativity and craftsmanship make a real impact.
Schedule
Full-time and part-time positions available
Tuesday through Saturday — Sundays and Mondays off
Shifts approximately 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM
No overnight or pre-dawn shifts
Responsibilities
Design and decorate custom cakes, wedding cakes, tiered cakes, sheet cakes, and cupcakes based on customer orders and themes
Use a range of decorating techniques including piping, fondant work, buttercream finishing, airbrushing, and hand-lettered writing and inscriptions
Collaborate with the baking team to prepare cakes and meet order timelines
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, following all food safety standards
Provide excellent customer service and help customers bring their cake ideas to life
Qualifications
Previous experience in cake decorating, pastry arts, or as a baker or cake artist
Comfortable with buttercream, fondant, and piping techniques
Knowledge of food handling and food safety practices (ServSafe or Michigan food handler certification a plus)
Familiarity with kitchen tools such as turntables, offset spatulas, piping bags, and decorating tips
Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under pressure
Passion for creativity and a love of desserts
Positive attitude and clear communication with customers and teammates
