YOUR JOB
As a Social Service Worker, you are on the front lines of ensuring children in foster and kinship care experience safe, stable, and nurturing homes. You’ll work closely with foster families, children, and service teams to assess well-being, monitor progress, and ensure services meet each child’s unique needs. This role combines direct support, clinical judgment, and advocacy—allowing you to build meaningful relationships while helping children and families move toward stability, healing, and permanency in alignment with The Bair Foundation’s mission.
Location: Harlingen, Texas

WHAT YOU’LL DO TO MAKE AN IMPACT
- Protect Child Safety – Actively monitor placements, evaluate risk, and respond decisively to safety concerns, including allegations of abuse or neglect.
- Equip and Support Caregivers – Coach and support foster and kinship families through supervision and training grounded in the Together Facing The Challenge model.
- Coordinate Effective Services – Lead assessment and service planning efforts in partnership with families and team members to support treatment goals and permanency.
- Track Outcomes and Well-Being – Complete consistent home visits and ongoing assessments to ensure children receive appropriate care and services.
- Maintain Regulatory Compliance – Ensure documentation and service delivery consistently align with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
WHAT PUTS YOU AHEAD
• Familiarity with child welfare regulations and best practices
- Certification or experience with Together Facing The Challenge or similar models
- Comfort managing crises, on-call responsibilities, and complex family dynamics

WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field (state-specific requirements apply)
- Experience providing casework services to children and families, preferably in foster care or child welfare
- Strong assessment, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Requirements: Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to meet state training and certification requirements
