Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients in accordance with established clinical protocols and scope of practice
- Room patients, obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints
- Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during examinations and procedures
- Administer medications, injections, and immunizations as ordered by the provider
- Perform basic clinical procedures (e.g., EKGs, phlebotomy, wound care, point-of-care testing)
- Monitor and document patient responses to treatments and report changes in condition
- Support chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, COPD) through patient education and follow-up
- Coordinate care, including referrals, prior authorizations, and scheduling diagnostic tests
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards
- Manage patient communication, including phone triage, prescription refills, and follow-up calls
- Maintain exam room readiness, stock supplies, and ensure proper equipment function
Qualifications
- Current LPN license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program
- Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical experience preferred, ideally in internal medicine or primary care
