Role Description
The Auto Paint Depot is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Paint Mixer / Color Match Specialist to join our growing team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys precision work, problem-solving, and working with color. Prior automotive paint experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate with mixing, formulation, or color-matching experience from other industries.
Responsibilities:
- Mix automotive paint accurately using computerized mixing systems and formulas
- Operate paint mixing equipment, scales, shakers, and dispensers
- Use spectrophotometers (color cameras) and color matching software to identify and formulate paint colors
- Adjust and tint colors by eye to achieve accurate color matches
- Research color formulas using manufacturer databases, paint company resources, and industry tools
- Create spray-out cards and verify color accuracy before production
- Fill customer orders for touch-up paint, paint pens, aerosols, pints, quarts, and gallon quantities
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and organize mixing room materials
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment
- Assist customers and team members with color-related questions and technical support
- Work efficiently while maintaining a high level of accuracy
Qualifications Required
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent color perception and ability to distinguish subtle color differences
- Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and solve problems
- Comfortable using computers and learning software systems
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
Preferred (but not required)
- Automotive paint mixing experience
- Collision repair or refinishing experience
- Experience working as a paint mixer, color matcher, barista, bartender, laboratory technician, chemical mixer, ink mixer, coating technician, or similar role requiring precise measurements and formulation
- Experience with spectrophotometers, color cameras, or color matching equipment
- Knowledge of automotive paint systems, toners, reducers, and clear coats
