The Atlantic
York, NY Full Time
POSTED ON 7/16/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 8/13/2026
The Atlantic is seeking a strategic, detail-oriented, and hands-on Manager to join the Consumer Strategy and Growth team. In this role, you will help drive subscriber acquisition by executing tests on the website, building onsite experiences for specific products, and supporting growth levers including partnerships, international expansion, and paywall strategy.

This role is highly cross-functional. You will partner closely with teams across CSG and Product, including the creative and data teams, as well as colleagues in engineering and editorial.

The ideal candidate brings a mix of executional rigor, technical savvy, analytical thinking, and curiosity. You are organized, comfortable working across multiple projects at once, and motivated by testing, learning, and improving how readers move toward subscription.

This role reports to the Associate Director focused on growth initiatives and is based in New York.

Responsibilities

  • Execute A/B tests across offers, gating, messaging, and design to improve baseline conversion performance.
  • Support the strategy and execution of key growth initiatives across The Atlantic’s site and app, including day-to-day cross-functional coordination.
  • Help launch and optimize subscription partnerships and international growth efforts, including offer setup, onsite testing, and performance tracking.
  • Build and maintain onsite tests in Zephr, including customer journeys and HTML/CSS components.
  • Contribute to QA processes and experimentation standards that support a reliable and effective testing roadmap.
  • Maintain and improve documentation, experimentation records, and Airtable systems so onsite marketing work is organized and accessible.
  • Analyze test performance and translate results into clear, actionable recommendations for future iterations.
  • Build and maintain dashboards in Looker to monitor experimentation outcomes and surface insights for stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Passion for the future of high-quality, independent journalism.
  • Experience in growth, product, marketing, or a related field, ideally with exposure to experimentation, conversion, or subscription growth.
  • Ability to interpret test results, identify patterns in performance data, and recommend next steps based on findings.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage several workstreams at once.
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative working style.
  • Comfort working in fast-moving environments and approaching problems with curiosity, initiative, and creativity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with subscription or paywall platforms such as Zephr.
  • Experience with analytics and reporting tools such as Looker or Google Analytics.
  • Familiarity with project management and documentation tools such as Airtable, JIRA, and Confluence.
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS.
  • Strong technical fluency and comfort working in platforms, systems, and tools that support testing, QA, reporting, and onsite execution.
  • Resourceful and self-directed, with the ability to troubleshoot issues, learn new systems quickly, and figure things out independently.
  • Open to experimenting with new technologies and workflows, including AI tools such as Claude, Codex, or Glean, to improve efficiency, analysis, and execution.
