Job overview:
Seeking a hands‑on, guest‑focused Assistant General Manager to support operations at an hotel by the shore. This role prioritizes front desk operations, guest care, and team leadership rather than food & beverage. You will work closely with the General Manager to ensure excellent guest experiences, lead the front office and housekeeping teams, resolve guest issues, and keep daily operations running smoothly. You will also walk the property daily and ensure the interior and exterior maintain a professional, welcoming appearance.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee front desk operations: check‑in/out, reservations, billing, concierge requests, and shift supervision
- Lead guest relations and customer care: proactively manage guest satisfaction, resolve complaints, and follow up on feedback
- Walk the property daily to inspect and maintain a professional look for exterior and interior areas; coordinate corrective actions with housekeeping and maintenance
- Supervise, train, schedule, and coach front desk and housekeeping staff; promote teamwork and service standards
- Float to cover front desk shifts during peak times or staffing shortages
- Coordinate with maintenance and housekeeping to ensure room readiness and property cleanliness
- Manage OTA/channel issues, room inventory, and assist GM with pricing/occupancy strategies
- Assist with budgeting, payroll, daily/weekly reporting, and operational improvements
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications:
- 3 years in hospitality with front desk/reservations experience; 1 year in a supervisory or assistant manager role preferred
- Proficiency with PMS systems (e.g., Opera, Cloudbeds, or similar) and OTA platforms
- Strong customer service, conflict resolution, and communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership and training ability; hands‑on, flexible, and solution oriented
- Basic financial understanding for budgets, forecasting, and reporting
- Availability for varied shifts, weekends, and holidays
- High school diploma required; hospitality degree/certificate a plus
